January 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government said on Tuesday IGB AutomotiveComp, a unit of German maker of automotive seat heating systems IG Bauerhin, has opened its second car parts factory in Indjija, in northern Serbia.

The company started the construction of the factory in April 2016 and invested a total of 4.5 million euro ($4.8 million) in the project, the Serbian government said in a statement.

IGB AutomotiveComp hired 600 employees at the new factory, which covers an area of 7,800 sq m, the government added.

The total investment in Serbia of IGB AutomotiveComp, which launched its first plant in Indjija in 2007, amounts to 16 million euro to date, public broadcaster Radio Televizija Srbije quoted the German ambassador to Serbia, Axel Dittmann, as saying during the opening ceremony at the factory attended by Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vucic.

IGB AutomotiveComp has some 2,200 employees in Serbia, the government said.

IG Bauerhin has production facilities in Canada, Germany, Mexico, China, Serbia and the Czech Republic. It employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide.

The company's customers include Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, KIA, Landrover, Opel, Porsche, Renault, SAIC, Skoda, Volvo and Volkswagen.
