October 19 (SeeNews) - IGB Automotive Serbia, a unit of German car parts manifacturer IG Bauerhin, in the beginning of November will start production at a plant in Lajkovac, in western Serbia, its third in the country, the city authorities said.
The plant for car seat heaters will employ 200 people, of whom 90% will be women, the Laikovac municipality said in a notice on its website earlier this week.

The German company opened its first plant in Serbia in Indjija, in the province of Vojodina, in 2007, investing 4.5 million euro ($4.4 million) in it. In 2021 it launched a 2 million euro plant in Lazarevac, near Belgrade. The two plants employ around 2,200 people and produce more than 30 million car seat heaters annually.
The combined output of the plants in Lazarevac and in Lajkovac will total 200,000 car seat heaters per week, the general director of IGB Automotive's local unit, Dalibor Beric, said, as quoted by the Lajkovac authorities.
