November 23 (SeeNews) - Diehl Controls, a division of the German Diehl group, plans to invest between 50 and 60 million euro ($61.6 million) to build a production facility for electronics components in the Romanian central city of Brasov, the county council announced.
The company aims to open the factory by 2024, the Brasov city hall said in a press release on Tuesday.
Diehl's facility in Brasov will be its third in Europe, besides the ones in Germany and Poland. Once completed, the factory will employ between 600 and 650, with an additional 100 to 150 workplaces possibly added for the company's research department.
Following the establishment of the factory, Diehl estimates an annual value of the output of 35 million euro in 2024, 100 million euro in 2025 and 160 million euro in 2027.
Between 2023 and 2027 the company estimates it will invest up to 20 million euro in the Brasov factory, while during the 2023 - 2033 period, investment might reach 45 million euro.
"We aim to start production in mid-2024. At the moment, we are dependent on when we will get the building permit so that we can start works," said Josef Fellner, Financial Director at Diehl Controls.
Diehl was established in Germany in 1902. The company currently employs more than 16,000 people, of which some 3,687 work for Diehl Controls. The company is active in metal processing, electronic components manufacturing, defense, aviation and utilities.
In 2021, Diehl registered revenues of 3.1 billion euro.
