TIRANA (Albania), April 17 (SeeNews) – The German government will offer a 2 million euro ($2.3 million) grant to finance a project for supporting sustainable rural development in Albania, the agriculture ministry in Tirana said on Wednesday.
The project aims to properly address the challenge of consolidating and orienting agriculture in Albania towards a more competitive approach, the ministry said in a press release, after an agreement signed between agriculture minister Bledi Cuci and the head of German development agency GIZ in Albania Hans-Juergen Cassens.
The project will focus on the implementation of a strategy and policies of rural development in compliance with EU standards and demands, increasing the level of funding from the EU-backed Instrument for Pre-accession for Rural Development (IPARD II) programme.
