February 21 (SeeNews) - German tourism company FTI Group is interested in entering the Croatian market and is eyeing multiple locations on the Adriatic country's coastline, Zagreb-based media reported.
FTI sees a lot of untapped potential on the Croatian tourism market, especially on the island of Korcula, in the coastal towns of Orebic and Split and in the region of Istria, news daily Poslovni Dnenivk reported on Thursday.
The German company - which is interested in taking over hotel Plat, located just east of Dubrovnik - sees considerable potential in Croatia in short-break tourism in the pre- and post-season, boat cruises and hotel tourism, as well as in the development of congress tourism.
At its next sitting, the Croatian cabinet should invite expressions of interest for hotels Plat, Imperijal and Maestral, all located in the Dubrovnik area, Poslovni said.
Tourism is a key industry for Croatia, contributing around a fifth of the country's gross domestic product.
