April 11 (SeeNews) - German medical and pharmaceutical devices manufacturer B. Braun plans a greenfield investment in Romania which will create some 250 jobs, the Romanian ministry for business environment, trade and entrepreneurship said on Tuesday.
B. Braun's managers have expressed their intentions to expand their operations in Romania, the ministry said in a press release.
The amount of the planned investment was not disclosed.
"In the next period, they will start a greenfield investment, which includes the construction of a plant for perfusion solutions, a scientific research center, a development center with specialized laboratories and a logistics center. The new investment will be finished in 2020 and will generate around 250 new jobs,” the ministry said.
The minister for business environment, Alexandru Petrescu, said that B. Braun will receive the support of the government for the planned investment.
B. Braun is present in Romania since 1999 and employs 800 in its four divisions - Hospital Care, a perfusion solutions manufacturer; Aesculap, a unit responsible for marketing products to individual and institutional clients; B. Braun Avitum, in charge of dialysis services and centers; and Out Patient Market, which offers products and schemes for outpatient treatments.
B. Braun was founded in 1839 in Germany and provides medical products and services worldwide, employing over 58,037 in 55 countries. The group posted a net profit of 975 million euro ($1.03 billion) in 2016, up 11% on the year, on a 6.4 billion euro turnover, up 5.6% compared to 2015.
