BUCHAREST (Romania), February 16 (SeeNews) – German footwear retailer Deichmann plans to open a store in Colosseum Mall Bucharest, the two companies said on Tuesday.
Deichmann signed an agreement with Colosseum Mall to open a 500 sq m store, as part of the current expansion plan of the commercial centre, they said in a joint press release.
The opening of the current extension of Colosseum Mall is scheduled for the end of 2021.
"Deichmann Romania has registered very good results in recent years and has permanently increased its network of stores in order to have the best coverage at national level. The opening of a new store in Colosseum Mall offers us the opportunity to address a new community and reconfirms our position as market leader in this segment," Deichmann CEO Daniel Popa said.
After the expansion, Colosseum Centre Management, the commercial centre developer, plans to build a residential project next to the mall with 650 apartments and 3,500 sq m of high street retail units.
"We started the year with results above expectations, as in January 2021 Colosseum registered a traffic increase of 3.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. Deichmann is without a doubt a brand desired by our community and we are looking forward to the opening," Colosseum Mall leasing manager Doinita Ilie said.
Located in the northwestern Bucharest, Colosseum Mall hosts large retailers such as Carrefour, Altex, Jysk, LC Waikiki, Sport Vision, Pepco, Leroy Merlin, Help Net, Nedelya, and Animax.
Essen-headquartered Deichmann has a staff of around 43,000. It runs over 4,200 stores and 40 online shops in 31 countries worldwide. The company entered Romania in 2007 and currently has a network of over 100 stores across the country.
