November 29 (SeeNews) - Austrian transportation and logistics services provider Gebrüder Weiss said on Monday that it has completed the incorporation of operations of Rhenus Bulgaria, a Sofia-based peer it has already been partnering with, into its network.
As a result, four new locations have been added to Gebrüder Weiss' national subsidiary in Bulgaria, in the cities of Burgas, Svilengrad, Varna and Plovdiv, the Austrian company said in a press release.

Rhenus Bulgaria had 80 employees before the incorporation. The staff members from its Sofia site are to relocate to the Gebrüder Weiss national headquarters in Musachevo, just outside Sofia, which is being further expanded. The move marks Rhenus Bulgaria’s withdrawal from the domestic transport market and the transfer of those operations to Gebrüder Weiss.
"Our more finely meshed network and new personnel will help us meet our Bulgarian customers' logistics requirements even more effectively," Marieta Grigorova, the country manager at Gebrüder Weiss Bulgaria, said. "At the same time, we are expanding our service portfolio in the area of end-consumer deliveries."
Following the incorporation, Gebrüder Weiss is now providing Home Delivery options in Bulgaria. This includes the transport of furniture, household appliances and home entertainment products purchased online, to and beyond the customers' front doors.
Lauterach, Bregenz-headquartered Gebrüder Weiss has been active in the Bulgaria's land transport, air and sea freight and logistics segments since 1993. Prior to the incorporation of Rhenus Bulgaria's operations, it had two locations in the country, in Sofia and Varna. The company is also present in several countries in Central and Southeast Europe in end-customer delivery.
Gebrüder Weiss' annual turnover for 2020 amounted to 1.77 billion euro ($2 billion).
