SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), August 17 (SeeNews) – Engineers from Russia's Gazprom will arrive in Bosnia's Zvornik in early September to asses a location for the construction of a 70 million euro ($79.9 million) plant for liquefaction of natural gas, local media reported on Friday.
A site located close to a road and connected to infrastructure has been found in Zvornik and it is considered suitable for the future plant, news portal Capital.ba quoted the head of the representative office of Bosnia's Serb Republic in Russia, Dusko Perovic, as saying.
During liquefaction, natural gas is cooled to convert into a liquid, which is 1/600 of the original volume. The process allows for easier and cheaper transportation of gas.
In December last year, the Serb Republic government said it has agreed to the conclusion of an agreement between local gas company Gas-Res and Russia's Gazprom SPG for the formation of a joint venture via which the two gas companies plan to carry out joint investments and commercial activities.
Zvornik is a city on the Drina river, in the north-eastern part of the Serb Republic, one of two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
