BELGRADE (Serbia), July 18 (SeeNews) - French investors plan to build a 120 million euro ($134.5 million) wind farm near Kikinda, in northern Serbia, a government official of the Serbian province of Vojvodina has said.
The Vojvodina government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two French companies on the construction of an 85 MW wind farm in the vicinity of Kikinda, the vice president of the Vojvodina government, Djordje Milicevic, said in a video file published on the website of Serbian public broadcaster RTS on Wednesday.
"The investment is about 120 million euro," Milicevic said.
On Tuesday, Serbian energy minister Aleksandar Antic said France's Akuo Energy and IEL Energie have signed a MoU with Vojvodina province for the construction of the Basaid wind farm, located near Kikinda.
The agreement was signed in the framework of the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Serbia earlier this week.
In 2014, Serbian company IEL OIE Balkan Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of IEL Energie, announced plans to invest 70 million euro in the construction of the 48 MW Basaid wind farm near Kikinda. However, the launch of the project was delayed due to the lack of adequate road infrastructure in the area.
