January 26 (SeeNews) - Serbian prime minister Ana Brnabic said on Friday that French floor and wall coverings producer Tarkett is considering launching a project for the expansion of its factory in Backa Palanka in Serbia.
Talks will be held with Tarkett's management for further investments in Serbia, Brnabic said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, as quoted in a statement by the government.
Representatives of France's Suez and Japan's Itochu have also expressed interest in expanding their presence in Serbia during a meeting within the framework of the forum, Brnabic said.
Tarkett completed the acquisition of Serbian sector player Sintelon in 2009. The cooperation between the two companies commenced in 2002 when they constructed a factory for PVC floor coverings in Backa Palanka. Later they invested 20 million euro ($25 million) in the construction of multilayer parquet floor coverings in Serbia.
