BELGRADE (Serbia), October 20 (SeeNews) - French company Mecafor, a unit of Grupe La Fonte Ardennaise, opened on Thursday a 4 million euro ($4.4 million) plant for the production of metal car parts in the northern Serbian city of Kikinda, the government said.
Mecafor will initially employ 55 people at the new plant and plans to increase the number over the course of time, the government said in a statement.
The construction of the factory began in April on a 4.8 ha piece of land which the company purchased for 30 million dinars ($267,800/244,000 euro).
Mecafor is among the three largest European manufacturer of metal parts for the automotive industry and employs about 120,000 workers in several factories around the world.
