March 29 (SeeNews) - French auto parts maker Faurecia on Wednesday inaugurated a plant in the southern Romanian country of Arges, its fifth in the country, following an investment of 8 million euro ($8.7 million).
The new plant has an area of 14,200 sq m and employs some 370 people. It will manufacture auto components for dashboards, door panels and main consoles, Faurecia said in a press release.

"The factory that we inaugurated today is one of the most modern production facilities of our group, because the technologies used and the working conditions offered to our employees. Currently we have 370 production operators, technical specialists, coordinators and team managers. By 2020 we will reach 900 employees," the executive deputy president of Faurecia Interior Systems division, Jean-Michel Renaudie, said.
The plant will provide components for car makers such as Jaguar Land-Rover, Fiat-Chrysler, Volvo, Ford, Peugeot-Citroen and Renault.
Faurecia already operates an automotive seat cover plant in the southwestern county of Ramnicu Valcea, an automotive seating plant in Talmaciu, in the central county of Sibiu, an emissions control technologies plant in southwestern city of Craiova, and an interior systems factory in the central-southern city of Pitești.
Faurecia employs over 3,300 people in Romania. It generated sales of 219.3 million euro from Romanian operations last year.
In September 2013, Faurecia received a 122.5 million euro loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to back its expansion in four countries, including Romania.
At group level, the automotive equipment supplier employs over 103,000 people in 34 countries.
