PRISTINA (Kosovo), March 6 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign visitors staying in hotels in Kosovo fell 8% year-on-year in 2019 to 177,358, the country's statistical office said.
The number of overnights spent by foreign visitors in Kosovo's hotels edged up to 321,581 last year from 321,308 in 2018, the statistical office said in a statement on Thursday.
The statistical office lists as visitors the people who spend at least one night in a hotel in Kosovo, not the people who cross the border into Kosovo. The office provides no information on the nationality of the foreign visitors. The statistics is based on a survey on hotel operators.
In 2019, most of the foreign visitors to Kosovo came from Albania, Germany, and Turkey. The capital Pristina and the city of Prizren were the top destinations.
In the fourth quarter alone, the number of foreign visitors decreased to 41,283 from 44,830 in the same period of 2018.
