TIRANA (Albania), April 23 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign nationals who visited Albania in the first quarter of 2019 rose 2.7% year-on-year to 695,027, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The number of foreign nationals who visited Albania for the purpose of recreation in January-March increased by 2.0% to 643,145, INSTAT said in a statement.
The largest number of foreign visitors came from Kosovo, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Italy.
In the month of March alone, Albania was visited by 283,910 foreign nationals, up 11.8% year-on-year. Of the total, 262,419 came for recreational purposes, up 11.4% compared to March 2018.
In 2018, the total number of foreign visitors to Albania increased by 16%, reaching 5.9 million.
