TIRANA (Albania), January 23 (SeeNews) – The total number of foreign nationals who visited Albania in 2018 increased by 16% year-on-year to 5.9 million, the country's statistical office, INSTAT, said on Wednesday.
The number of foreign nationals who visited Albania for the purpose of recreation increased by 15.9% to 5.6 million in the period under review, INSTAT said in a statement.
The largest number of international visitors came from Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, Italy and Montenegro, while visitors from Poland registered the sharpest year-on-year increase, of 34.2%, in the January-December period, followed by Italy with 20.0%.
In the month of December alone, Albania was visited by 280,699 foreign nationals, up 9% year-on-year. Of the total, 253,301 came for recreational purposes, up 8.3% compared to December 2017.
