January 31 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's Serb Republic attracted 222,147 foreign tourists in 2022, up 86% year-on-year, the entity's statistical office said.
Foreign tourists spent 489,035 overnights in the Serb Republic last year, which represents an annual increase of 81.5%, the Serb Republic's statistical office said in a statement on Friday.
Most foreign tourists who visited the Serb Republic last year came from Serbia (88,990, up 60.7% year-on-year), followed by 27,766 tourists from Croatia (up 97%) and 22,809 tourists from Slovenia (up 151%).
The total number of tourists rose 49% last year to 439,781. The overall number of overnights exceeded for the first time ever the one million mark reaching 1.036 million. It was up 38.5% on the year.
Alone in December, Bosnia's Serb Republic registered 15,060 foreign tourists, up 27.5% year-on-year. They spent 33,798 overnights, up 26.7% on the year.
The Serb Republic is one of two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Federation.
