LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 25 (SeeNews) – A total of 188,951 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in January, up 7.6% year-on-year, the state statistical office said on Tuesday, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased 2.8% to 505,891 in January, the statistical office said in a statement.
Domestic tourists increased by 8.2% to 96,914, taking the total number of tourists in January to 285,865, up 7.8%.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 283,413 in January, up 6.3% on the year, taking the overall number of tourist overnights in the review period to 789,304, up 4.1% compared to January 2019.
The markets, from which most foreign tourists to Slovenia came were Germany (23%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (15%), Austria (14%), Serbia (11%) and Italy (7%).
Over 260,000, or 33% of all overnight stays, were spent in spa resorts, followed by 29% in mountain resorts.
In 2019, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased 6.3% to 4,702,832, while overnight stays added 1.8% to 11,378,465.
