September 28 (SeeNews) - A total of 769,445 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in August, spending 2,228,787 overnights, the state statistical office said on Friday, citing provisional data.
It provided no comparative figures. Last month, the statistical office reported 677,581 foreign visits and 1,901,896 foreign overnights in July.
Domestic tourists totalled 174,475 in August, taking the total number of tourists during the month to 943,920, the statistical office said in a statement.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 629,240 in August, taking the overall number of tourist overnights in the review period to 2,858,027.
Key markets, from which the most foreign tourists who generated the most overnight stays in Slovenia came, were Germany (14% or more than 317,000), Italy (14%), the Netherlands (10%), Austria (6%), France (5%) and Hungary (5%).
Almost 1.1 million or 38% of all overnight stays were made in hotels, 21% in campsites, 17% in apartments and holiday villages, 6% in private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings, and 5% in youth hostels.
In 2017, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased 13.4% to 4,729,611, while overnight stays added 11.3% to 11,988,719.
