LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), October 30 (SeeNews) – A total of 469,040 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in September, spending 1,314,275 overnights in the country, the state statistical office said on Tuesday, citing provisional data.
It provided no comparative figures. Last month, the statistical office reported 769,445 foreign visits and 2,228,787 foreign overnights in August.
Domestic tourists totalled 116,619 in September, taking the total number of tourists during the month to 585,659, the statistical office said in a statement.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 343,348 in September, taking the overall number of tourist overnights in the review period to 1,657,623.
Key markets, from which the most foreign tourists who generated the most overnight stays in Slovenia came, were Germany (16% or more than 212,000), Italy (9%), Austria (9%), the United Kingdom (5%), the United States (5%) and other Asian countries (4%).
Over 900,000 or 55% of all overnight stays were made in hotels, 13% in apartments and holiday villages, 11% in campsites, 5% in private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings, and 4% in youth hostels.
In 2017, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased 13.4% to 4,729,611, while overnight stays added 11.3% to 11,988,719.
