December 1 (SeeNews) - A total of 3,610,793 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the ten months through October, up from only 1,677,574 in the like period of last year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists more than doubled to 9,285,726 in the January-October period of 2022 from 4,358,145 in the ten nine months of 2021, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of domestic tourists fell by 3.3% to 1,715,465, taking the total number of tourists to 5,326,258, up 54.3% compared to January-October 2021.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 4,926,536 in the first ten months of 2022, down 9.0% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period grew to 14,212,262 from 9,770,179.
In October alone, 268,521 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 115% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists surged 113% to 665,718.
In October, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Austria and Germany, accounting for 14.2% and 13.1% of the total, respectively, followed by Italy with 12.2%.
