LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 23 (SeeNews) – A total of 4,293,321 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the ten months through October, up 6.9% year-on-year, the state statistical office said on Monday, citing final data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 3.0% on the year to 10,426,413 in the January-October period, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of domestic tourists rose by 1.7% to 1,319,065, taking the total number of tourists to 5,612,386, up 5.7% compared to January-October 2018.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 3,860,921 in the first ten months of 2019, down 1.8% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 14,287,334, up 1.6%.
In October alone, 333,142 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 6.2% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists edged down 0.1% to 739,219.
In October, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Germany and Austria, accounting for 13% and 12% of the total, respectively, followed by Italy with 9%.
Around 26% of all overnight stays were spent in health spa resorts, followed by 21% in mountain resorts.
In 2018, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased by 7.8% to 5,933,266, while overnight stays added 10.5% to 15,694,705.
