LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 30 (SeeNews) – A total of 4,486,221 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the eleven months through November, up 6.6% year-on-year, the state statistical office said on Monday, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 2.5% on the year to 10,876,101 in the January-November period, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of domestic tourists rose by 1.4% to 1,418,152, taking the total number of tourists to 5,904,373, up 5.3% compared to January-November 2018.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 4,129,682 in the first eleven months of 2019, down 2.0% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 15,005,783, up 1.3%.
In November alone, 192,900 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 0.8% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists fell by 6.4% to 449,688.
In November, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Italy and Austria, accounting for 19% and 17% of the total, respectively, followed by Croatia with 8%.
Around 35% of all overnight stays were spent in health spa resorts, followed by 18% in Ljubljana.
In 2018, tourist arrivals to Slovenia increased by 7.8% to 5,933,266, while overnight stays added 10.5% to 15,694,705.
