April 28 (SeeNews) - A total of 505,634 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the first quarter of 2023, up 54.9% year-on-year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 44.5% on the year to 1,313,839 in the first quarter, the statistical office said in a statement earlier this week.
The number of domestic tourists fell by 11.2% to 331,115, taking the total number of tourists to 836,749, up 19.6% compared to January-March 2022.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 974,411 in the first three months of 2023, down 9.5% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 2,288,250, up 15.2%.
In March alone, 165,387 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 30.0% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists fell by 20.9% to 403,932.
In March, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Italy and Austria, accounting for 13.3% of the total each, followed by Croatia with 9.6%.
