May 25 (SeeNews) - A total of 830,040 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the first four months of 2023, up 52.2% year-on-year, the state statistical office said on Thursday, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 42.3% on the year to 2,051,254 in January-April, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of domestic tourists fell by 16.0% to 446,768, taking the total number of tourists to 1,276,808, up 18.6% compared to January-April 2022.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 1,284,132 in the first four months of 2023, down 12.8% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 3,335,386, up 14.5%.
In April alone, 324,406 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 48.3% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew by 38.6% to 737,415.
In April, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Italy, accounting for 15.9% of the total, followed by Germany with 12.7%.
