September 30 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in the first eight months of 2021 rose 65.4% year-on-year to 530,061, statistical office data showed.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourists in Serbia grew 72.7% to 1,513,145 in the first eight months.
In August alone, a total of 136,288 foreign tourists visited Serbia, up from only 30,615 in August 2020.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was Serbia's biggest feeder market in the first eight months of 2021, with 64,812 tourists, up 94.5% on the year. Citizens of Montenegro followed, with a total of 38,514 visits, up 112.3%. Visitors from the Russian Federation came third, up 178.4% to 37,473.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 25.9% on the year to 1,194,206 in the first eight months of 2021, taking the total number of tourists to 1,724,267, up 35.9%.
