BELGRADE (Serbia), September 28 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in August grew 19% on the year to 227,126, statistical office data showed on Friday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourists in Serbia rose by 24.9% year-on-year, to 496,489 in August, according to data posted on the website of Serbia's statistical office.
In the first eight months of 2018, the total number of foreign tourist arrivals rose 22.7% year-on-year to 812,712, while the total number of overnights spent by foreign tourists added 14.8% to 1,152,184.
Turkey was Serbia's biggest feeder market in August, with 15,486 tourists, down 7% on the year. German citizens followed, up 18.4% to 15,294. Visitors from Romania came third, up 3.3% to 12,768.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 10.3% on the year to 194,095 in August, taking the total number of tourists to 421,221, up 14.8%.
