September 29 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Montenegro in August rose 20.45% on the year to 207,659, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
The total number of tourists who stayed in the country in August increased by an annual 20.27% to 226,577, the statistical office said in a statement.
Total tourist overnights grew to 1,043,762 in August from 915,990 in the same month of 2021, with overnights spent by foreign tourists accounting for 91.28% of all.
Visitors from Serbia accounted for 28.6% of all overnights in August, followed by tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 9.4% share, France with 6.2%, Germany with 5.9% and the United Kingdom with 4.6%.
As much as 91.7% of all overnight stays were spent at seaside resorts, followed by the country's capital Podgorica with 5.0%, mountain resorts with 1.9% and other tourist resorts with 1.3%.
