June 8 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 641,916 in April, an increase of 553% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 430% on the year, reaching 2,097,215 in April, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals rose 57% on the year to 190,769 in April, and the number of overnights by local tourists went up also 57% to 428,133.
Foreign tourist arrivals to to the Adriatic country reached 10.6 million last year, an annual increase of 91.9%, following a drop of 68% in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
