December 8 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 691,346 in October, an increase of 49.6% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Thursday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 33% on the year, to 2.4 million in October, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals rose 14.8% on the year to some 201,000 in October, and the number of overnights by local tourists increased 12% to 421,000.
Foreign tourist arrivals to to the Adriatic country totalled 10.6 million last year, an annual increase of 91.9%, following a drop of 68% in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
