November 9 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 1.867 million in September, an increase of 19.3% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 9.6% on the year, to 10.5 million in September, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals rose 5.8% on the year to some 206,000 in September, and the number of overnights by local tourists increased 2.5% to 600,884.
Foreign tourist arrivals to to the Adriatic country totalled 10.6 million last year, an annual increase of 91.9%, following a drop of 68% in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
