December 13 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 462,000 in October, an increase of 373,000 compared to October last year but about half of the pre-pandemic October 2019 level, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia in October rose by 345% on the year, reaching 1.8 million, the statistical office said in a statement on Thursday. They, however, were just 67% of the pre-pandemic October 2019 numbers, it added.
The number of domestic tourists rose 83% on the year to 174,813 in October, while number of overnights by domestic tourists increased 78% on the year to 375,705.
In 2020, foreign tourist arrivals to the Adriatic country dropped 68% to 5.55 million due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
