September 4 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in the first seven months of the year rose by an annual 7.2%, reaching 5 million, the country's tourism ministry said.
Tourist visits from Greece and Germany increased by 10% each in the period under review, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
Bulgaria was visited by 20% more tourists from the UK in the January-July period, which was similar to the rise in the number of Polish and Czech tourists. An increase of 5% was also registered in visits from Russia.
Bulgaria's total revenues from tourism in the first half of the year grew to 2.4 billion levs ($1.46 million/1.23 million euro), up 12.3% over the same period last year, the ministry said.
