December 30 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in November went up by 55% year-on-year to 439,500, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Citizens of EU member states accounted for 41% of all arrivals of international visitors in November, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report on tourist numbers.
Citizens from Romania accounted for 42% of all visits of foreign tourists from EU member states, followed by Greece and Germany with 22% and 8%, respectively.
Arrivals from Turkey formed 54% of all visits of tourists from non-EU countries in Europe.
The number of people who visited friends or relatives in Bulgaria or just transited the country represented 63% of all arrivals of foreign nationals in the month under review. Vacation trips and business trips accounted for 21% and 16% of all international visitors' arrivals, respectively.
