December 30 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria soared by 52.8% on the year in November, reaching 671,488, of which 37.4% were transit trips, the statistical office said on Friday.
Citizens of fellow EU member states who visited Bulgaria last month numbered 308,263, representing 45.9% out of all visits by foreign nationals, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report.
In November, Romania was Bulgaria's biggest EU feeder market, accounting for 42.6% of all foreign visitors, followed by Greece with 26%.
Visits to Bulgaria from other European countries totalled 297,916 in November, of which Turkey accounted for 47.7%, followed by Romania, Greece, Ukraine and Serbia.
Holiday trips and business visits in November accounted for 27.9% and 18.2% of all international visitors' arrivals, respectively, with increases registered in all categories of visits monitored.
