September 27 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in August increased by 3.8% year-on-year to 2.325 million, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Friday.
Citizens of EU member states made up 62.1% of all arrivals of international visitors in August, and were up by 3.6% compared to the number of EU tourist who visited the country in the same month of last year, NSI said in a monthly report on tourist numbers.
Vacation trips made up 56.8% of all foreign tourist visits in August, while business trips accounted for 7.4%.
The number of people who visited friends or relatives in Bulgaria or just transited the country represented 35.8% of all arrivals of foreign nationals during the month.
In August, most foreign visitors to Bulgaria came from Romania, Turkey and Germany.
