SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 27 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in November rose 20% year-on-year, reaching 524,125, data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Tuesday.
Citizens of EU member states accounted for 56.6% of all foreign tourist arrivals in November, up 29.3% compared to November 2015. Tourist arrivals from Spain increased by 60.9% on a yearly basis as one third of the were for the purpose of vacation trip.
The number of tourists who visited friends or relatives or just transited the country increased 16.9% on the year and accouned for 47.7% of all foreign tourist arrivals in November.
Vacation trips in November increased 21.6% on the year and accounted for 31.7% of all trips by foreign tourist, while the number of business trips rose 25.2% on the year, reaching 20.6% of the total number of foreign tourist arrivals to Bulgaria in November.
