February 28 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria rose by 19.7% year-on-year in January, reaching 544,013, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Wednesday.
Citizens of EU member states made up 46.7% of all arrivals of international visitors in January, the NSI said in a monthly report on tourist numbers.
Vacation trips accounted for 43.4% of all foreign tourist visits in January, while business trips made up 17.6%.
The number of people who visited friends or relatives or just transited the country accounted for 39.0% of all arrivals of foreign nationals in January.
