August 29 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria rose 17.8% year-on-year in August, reaching 1.1 million, the statistics office, NSI, said on Wednesday.
Germany led in terms of the number of foreign tourists visiting Bulgaria last month with 159,567 visitors, up 10.8% year-on-year, the NSI said in a monthly report on tourist arrivals.
The second biggest group came from Russia - 132,264, up by an annual 26.5%, followed by Poland with 108,437 arrivals, up 37% on the year.
The total number of foreign nationals who visited Bulgaria in August was 1.9 million, 10.9% higher year-on-year. Of them, 672,102 visited friends or relatives or just transited the country, and 139,529 came for business purposes.
