February 28 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in January rose 10.9% year-on-year, reaching 454,600, data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Tuesday.
Citizens of EU member states made up 47% of all foreign tourist arrivals in January, the data indicated.
The number of tourists who visited friends or relatives or just transited the country increased 9.1% on the year and made up 38% of all foreign tourist arrivals in January.
Vacation trips increased 7.0% on the year in January and accounted for 45% of all trips by foreign tourists, while the number of business trips rose 28% on the year, reaching 17.1% of the total number of foreign tourist arrivals to Bulgaria in January.
