September 30 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bosnia's Federation in August totalled 75,778, compared with just 10,681 in the same month a year earlier, when the pandemic hit tourism hard, according to figures released by the entity's statistical office.
Foreign tourists spent 197,820 overnights in the Federation in August, compared with 31,208 in August 2020, the Federation's statistical office said in a statement on Wednesday.
The total number of tourists who visited the Federation in August was 111,585, up from 42,048 in the same period the year before.
Total tourist overnights increased to 284,272 from 127,406. Most foreign visitors to the Federation in August, 12%, came from the United Arab Emirates, followed by tourists from Saudi Arabia, 11.7%, Germany, 7.5% and Croatia, 7.3%.
The Federation is one of two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
