December 22 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 244,061 foreign tourists in November, compared with 148,362 in the same month last year, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Foreign tourist arrivals reached 5.4 million in the January-November period, more than double compared with 2.5 million in the same period a year earlier, the statistical office said in a statement.
In November alone, the number of domestic tourists rose to 304,758 from 211,981 in November 2020. Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 548,819 in the month under review, compared with 360,343 in the same month in 2020.
In November 2021, Albania attracted 90,896 visitors from Kosovo, 27,644 from Montenegro and 26,407 from Greece.
Albania confirmed its first two coronavirus cases in early March 2020. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.
