May 3 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 1,070,564 foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2023, a 60% surge from the same period in 2022, the country’s statistical office said.
European tourists made 97% of the arrivals, data posted last week on the website of the statistical office, INSTAT, showed.
Domestic tourists increased by 49% to 1,304,777 during the first quarter.
In March alone, the country attracted 384,028 foreign tourists, a 72% surge compared to the same month last year. The number of domestic tourists in March rose to 462,617, a 30% spike from last year.
Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 846,645 in March and at 2,375,341 in the January-March period.
In 2022, as many as 7.5 million foreign tourists visited Albania, up 33% compared with the previous year.
