TIRANA (Albania), July 20 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Albania in the first four months of 2018 increased by 9.1% on the year, local media reported on Friday.
The tourism sector increased its contribution to the Albanian economy by 30 million euro ($34.9 million) on the year in the January-April period, ATA news agency quoted tourism minister Blendi Klosi as saying during a round table with representatives of the sector.
Albania was visited by a record 5.1 million tourists last year, Klosi said, adding that the government aims to extend the tourist season in the coming years.
In June, Prime Minister Edi Rama said the government expects the number of foreign tourists visiting the country to increase by at least 15% year-on-year in 2018.
