August 31 (SeeNews) - Foreign remittances to Kosovo ticked up 0.33% year-on-year to 59.2 million euro ($65.9 million) in June, central bank data showed.
In the first half of the year, foreign remittances to Kosovo fell by an annual 2.7% to 329.7 million euro, the data, published on the central bank's website, indicated.
Kosovars living abroad prefer to use money transfer operators rather than banks to send money to relatives living in Kosovo.
The bulk of remittances originated in Germany, followed by Switzerland.
According to a population census, in 2015 Kosovo had a population of 1.77 million people.
According to latest available information, Kosovars living abroad in 2014 numbered more than 700,000, as up to 35% of them were living in Germany.
