August 7 (SeeNews) - The number of visits by foreign cruise ships to Croatian ports rose 10.6% year-on-year to 272 in the first half of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of passengers they carried on those visits increased 14.8% to 409,238, the Croatian Bureaus of Statistics said in a statement.
A total of 54 foreign cruise ships visited the Adriatic country's ports in the first six months of 2019, the same number as a year earlier.
Cruise ships sailing under the flag of Malta accounted for the highest number of cruise journeys to Croatia in January-June (72), followed by Italy with 45. The biggest number of passengers who arrived to Croatia - 108,000, travelled on board of vessels sailing under Italian colours.
The Adriatic city of Dubrovnik was the most popular destination for foreign cruise journeys in the review period, followed by the ports of Split and Zadar.
