October 8 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of Ford Motor Company said that it will send part of employees in the engine department of its factory in Craiova into technical unemployment on October 9, local media reported.
The technical unemployment of employees is due to a decrease in demand for vehicles worldwide, given that the engines from Craiova are produced for vehicles that are assembled in various Ford plants globally, Agerpres news agency reported on Wednesday.

"On Friday, October 9, a day without production is planned at the engine department. Thus, some of the employees there will be technically unemployed. As I said on other occasions, production volumes and labor are adjusting," Agerpres quoted Ford Romania spokeswoman Ana Maria Timis as saying.
In July, Ford Romania announced that it is planning to not extend the contracts of part of its employees after their expiry due to low demand on the automotive market.
The auto manufacturer currently has about 6,300 employees in Romania.
