TIRANA (Albania), April 6 (SeeNews) – The inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) in Albania increased by 5.7% year-on-year to 1.08 billion euro ($1.2 billion) in 2019, the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA) said on Monday, citing central bank data.
The FDI inflow in Albania has recorded an upward trend during the period 2014-2019, marking its highest value last year, AIDA said in a Facebook post.
The biggest volume of foreign investment in Albania last year originated in the Netherlands, followed by Switzerland and Italy.
The sectors, which attracted the biggest volume of investment by non-residents in 2019 were electricity, gas, and water supply with 31% of total FDI and mining and quarrying with 20%.
In 2018, the inflow of FDI into Albania rose to 1.02 billion euro, compared to 899.9 million euro in 2017.
