TIRANA (Albania), December 11 (SeeNews) – Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Albania decreased by 9.2% year-on-year to 266.0 million euro ($303.2 million) in the third quarter of 2018, the central bank said on Tuesday.
The net inflow of FDI decreased by 26.2% in the July-September period compared to the previous quarter, the central bank said in a quarterly balance of payments report.
FDI into Albania fell to 908.3 million euro last year, from 942.5 million euro in 2016.
Currently, Albania's economy is driven by two big energy projects - the construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) designed to carry natural gas from Azerbaijan to Italy via Albania, and works on a hydropower plant on the Devoll river.
