TIRANA (Albania), December 24 (SeeNews) – Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Albania fell by 6.8% year-on-year in the third quarter, to 237.4 million euro ($289.5 million), central bank data showed on Thursday.
The net inflow of FDI increased by 7% in the July-September period of 2020, as compared to the previous quarter, the central bank data showed.
The biggest volume of foreign investment in Albania in the third quarter of 2020, of 45 million euro, originated in Switzerland, followed by the Netherlands with 41 million euro and Italy with 35.1 million euro.
The sectors which attracted the biggest volume of investment by non-residents in the third quarter were electricity, gas, and water supply with 68.4 million euro, financial and insurance activities with 28.4 million euro and mining and quarrying with 25.9 million euro.
The inflow of FDI in Albania increased by 5.7% year-on-year to 1.08 billion euro in 2019.
